Guatemala – Lake Atitlan, a set on Flickr. One of our favorite places, great for a rest after days of travel. Use Google and pick any spot you find along the lake. And make sure you don’t pay overpriced rates for the boats…

Guatemala – Flores & Tikal, a set on Flickr. Tikal and Flores are hyped a lot, and yes, they are worth a visit. The guided walk through Tikal was good, but you won’t miss anything if you explore it on your own.

Guatemala – Antigua, a set on Flickr. “This is Guatemala” – we heard this many times, mostly as excuse why things were not working as expected 🙂 Antigua is quite busy, get out of there as soon as you can. Which means for us: one afternoon and one night and we have seen enough, but that was good. The Pacaya Volcano is worth a visit, especially when you can walk on 8 days old lava.

Honduras – Roatan, a set on Flickr. People call it Paradise – I guess it’s pretty close 🙂 One of the best snorkeling we have ever done, and West End is a lovely little village with plenty of bars and restaurants. Some a bit too pricy, but quite a few still authentic with a lot of charm. This is definitely a spot we might come back to!

Costa Rica – Arenal, a set on Flickr. Our chance to walk up a volcano – only set we never saw it… Nice area for walking though. We went from the Observatory over to La Fortuna, but unfortunately we listened to the dude in the hut at the entrance and took a side-path. Nice walk with less mud, and a Crocodile Dundee knife would have helped…

Costa Rica – Monteverde, a set on Flickr. We traveled in-land from Tamarindo via shuttle-bus and visited the cloud forest at Monteverde. Nice place, and a walk through the main park in the morning is good. Take a guide if you want to see at least a few animals, otherwise just wait a few minutes close to the rubbish bin at the entrance 🙂

Costa Rica – Tamarindo, a set on Flickr. Probably one of the most touristy place on Nicoya, the Peninsula north-west of Costa Rica, Tamarindo is a paradise for surfers and tourists that like a healthy mixture of business and still alternative tourism. Fantastic beaches, nice place to visit restaurants and bars, and super cool for surfing 🙂

Mexico – Cozumel, a set on Flickr. A day in Cozumel: Good snorkeling, especially if you go just north of the Airport in front of an apartment strip. Had some great Tapas, too…
